The Dengie Hundred Probus Club is for retired and semi-retired professional and business men.

The club was formed in 1982 and those residing in the Dengie or surrounding districts are eligible to join.

Probus has over 2200 clubs throughout the United Kingdom and is an International organisation.

Membership is male and mainly from professional and business occupations but is open to others who may wish to join. Membership is usually through introduction by an existing member but this is not essential and you can contact the club’s Membership Secretary (Ken Smith) by using the form below for an informal chat or telephone him on 07747 020800.

The club meets on the second Thursday of each month in Burnham on Crouch at the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club.

Members meet for a social gathering in the bar prior to luncheon. After lunch there is a talk. Talks cover a variety of subjects and are often given by members speaking about their careers but can be on any subject. Ladies and non-members are occasionally invited to attend as speakers.

Members’ ladies and guests are invited to join members on three occasions during the year. These occasions are the Club’s Anniversary Luncheon in June, the Annual River Cruise to Fambridge in August, and the Christmas Luncheon in December.

As we recover from the Covid shutdown we also hope to re-instate occasional trips to places of interest, mainly by coach, within reasonable distance from Burnham and again wives and partners are welcome to come along on these. In the recent past these visits have included:

The joining fee is £20 and the Annual Subscription is £15, Lunch is £17 per person for regular meetings but may vary on special occasions.
